Community Bookshelf
About the Community Bookshelf Project
Each month we will be selecting a curator for our most prominent bookshelf in our store. This community curator will pick 10-15 book titles for the shelf and 5% of all sales of this title will be donated to a central Florida non-profit of their choice. The shelf will also prominently display a sign about the curator and a sign about the non-profit of their choice. We will pose results of sales from these shelves on this page at the beginning of each new month.

FAQs
What type of curators are you looking for?
We are looking for community influencers who have a passion for giving back to the central Florida community. We are looking for like minded folks who have the same values we do especially in regard to celebrating BIPOC, LGBTQ, and disabled creators, writers, readers, and artists.
What type of visibility will my curated shelf receive?
During the month, your list of books will be available on this page on our website, as well as have a list on our bookshop.org profile and our libro.fm profile - sales from these lists will count toward your donated total. Your physical shelf will be on the top shelf of the first bookshelf on the right side of our store as you walk in. This tends to be the first shelf people walk towards in our store. The community shelf of the month will also be advertised at least 3 times during the month on our social media channels main pages, 3 times in our stories, and in each weekly email newsletter.
What are your expectations of me during the month?
We hope that you will help boost the sales of the books you selected by sharing at least one post about your community bookshelf on your social media at the beginning of the month and reminding followers of your shelf throughout the month and tagging us.
What types of books and non-profits can I choose?
We will not accept any non-profits or books that are religious in nature, promote hate speech, or are overtly biased in nature in a harmful way against marginalized communities. All non-profits must be located in central FL. All books you select should be something you have read and enjoyed, but can be for any ages or from any genres. Having a variety will help boost sales! White Rose Books & More has final say in which books we will and will not promote, as well as which non-profits we will give back to.
While we have always had a passion for giving back to our community, we cannot say this was 100% our idea. Thank you to Under the Umbrella Bookstore for the idea! See their community project here: https://www.undertheumbrellabookstore.com/community-curation-project
