In 2021, Devin became artistically preoccupied with dragons in unexpected places. One day, she realized that a glowing bakery window might look just like a big pile of gold. Devin then painted a dragon out on a cold rainy street, gazing longingly into a golden bakery window, and this painting resonated with her much so that she couldn’t get the dragon out of her head.

When she began painting follow-up illustrations, The Bakery Dragon came to be.
